Joe began his study of JKA Shotokan karate in 1983. He holds rank of yondan and is member JKA BC technical board. Qualifications judge C, instructor C and examiner D. Joe is a portfolio manager and senior wealth advisor with RBC Dominion Securities

Prior to joining JKA Joe began training in judo at 15. Over the years he has participated in boxing and studied Chinese styles and kobudo. Joe and his children competed in many regional tournaments over the years. Highlights include the 2015 Abbotsford Open ( men’s grand champion ) and 2005 Karate BC Men’s Masters Kumite gold . Joe has coached other sports and has his NCCP Theory 3. A graduate of both University of Western Ontario and BCIT
